Women at the Heart of Jesus' Mission: Celebrating Janet McKenzie's paintings
STARTS: Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 3:00 PM
ENDS: Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 6:00 PM
CTU has had the enormous good fortune to be the recipient of five paintings by noted artist Janet McKenzie. Ms. McKenzie’s painting, “Jesus of the People,” was the winner of National Catholic Reporter’s competition in 1999 to find the face of Jesus for a new millennium.
Please mark your calendar for September 27 when there will be a formal celebration of the paintings, including remarks by New Testament scholar and CTU's Vice President and Academic Dean, Sr. Barbara Reid, OP. Vespers will follow Sr. Barbara's talk, and a reception will complete the afternoon's celebration. Please RSVP below.
The paintings were generously donated by Barbara Marian, who commissioned the triptych featured below, and her husband, Jerry Powers. They found, in CTU, a wonderful and fitting home for their beloved paintings which are: Epiphany (located 3rd floor;); Mary with the Midwives (located 2nd floor); and the triptych The Succession of Mary Magdalene (located outside the library, 5th floor).
