Learn@CTU, CTU’s new multi-media website, has launched
“As an inter-cultural community of faith and learning, we seek to bring the richness of the Roman Catholic tradition, teaching, and practice to our students, to the broader Church, and to the public.”– CTU Vision Statement, par. 3.
Catholic Theological Union is pleased to introduce its new, multimedia website, Learn@CTU. Through this site, http://learn.ctu.edu, CTU seeks to bring a sampling of its educational resources to the public in a new way.
There is a long-standing tradition of CTU hosting lectures, seminars, workshops, and other events featuring CTU faculty as well as special guests and visiting scholars. According to Sr. Barbara E. Reid, O.P., Vice President and Academic Dean, “Inevitably when a lecture is over or a workshop has concluded, we will hear people say things like, ‘I wish more people could have experienced that talk’ or ‘been a part of that discussion’ or ‘heard those eloquent words.’ Now, those who may not be able to be present in the room will have access to a sampling of CTU’s educational resources through the internet.”
These resources, which also will include transcriptions, essays, papers, and book reviews, are offered in three formats – video, audio, and text. According to the purpose expressed on its homepage, Learn@CTU provides an experience of theological education at CTU. It is a tool for continuing education for alumnae and friends of CTU, supplements the educational experience for our students, and introduces CTU faculty, students, and educational resources to the wider community.
