CHICAGO – Catholic Theological Union (CTU) has promoted four members of its faculty to new positions, three of whom are members of the Society of the Divine Word, Chicago Province. After almost 30 years of dedicated service at CTU, Professor Stephen Bevans, SVD, will retire at the end of this academic year. He has been awarded the title Professor Emeritus of Mission and Culture and will become the Emeritus Holder of the Louis J. Luzbetak Chair of Theology and Culture.
CHICAGO - On April 29, 2015, Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will honor world-renowned physician and anthropologist Dr. Paul Farmer with its Blessed are the Peacemakers Award at the annual Blessed are the Peacemakers Trustee Dinner. The awardis presented to an individual or institution whose accomplishments and commitments embody the mission of CTU, particularly in the areas of reconciliation, justice, and peacemaking. Past winners have included Mary McAleese, Sargent Shriver, and Stephen Spielberg.
(CHICAGO, August 27, 2014) The board of directors of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation voted on August 19, 2014, to approve a $1 million grant in support of the efforts of Giving Voice in partnership with Catholic Theological Union (CTU) to prepare young Roman Catholic women religious to assume leadership positions in their religious communities, ministries, and the Catholic Church.

The inaugural platform party included the Most Rev. Joseph W. Tobin, CSsR, Archbishop of Indianapolis, and the Most Rev. Francis J. Kane, DD, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Chicago.
CHICAGO, [September 5, 2013] All Hallows College, Dublin, Ireland, has chosen the Rev. Donald Senior, CP, president emeritus of Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago, as the recipient of the 2013 Daniel O’Connell and Frederick Douglass Irish American Freedom Award. Fr. Senior is being honored for his long-standing commitment and work in the area of justice and ethical leadership. Christopher Kennedy, son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, will present the award.
CHICAGO [April 16, 2013] At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago on April 15, 2013, the Rev. Mark R. Francis, C.S.V., was elected to the presidency of CTU. In accepting the post, he succeeds the Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., who is retiring from the office on June 30, 2013. Fr. Senior served as the president of CTU for a total of 23 years. He is scheduled to return to the faculty as Professor of New Testament Studies in the fall of 2013.
Chicago, IL (April 8, 2013) The 2013 Touchstone Award will be presented to Passionist priest, the Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., who is the current president of Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago. Fr. Senior has been the president of CTU for 23 years, and is also a professor of New Testament Studies. Of the award Fr. Senior said, “To be honored by my fellow priests in this way touches me deeply. I am grateful for my years of priesthood and the many opportunities I have had to be of service. Thank you, National Federation of Priests' Councils--an organization I greatly admire.”
Catholic Theological Union formally announced on December 14, 2012, that it is seeking a new president to succeed the Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., who is retiring from the office at the end of the academic year, June 30, 2013, after 23 years of service. Applications must be submitted to CTU by February 15, 2013.
