CHICAGO–September 5, 2012–The Second Vatican Council is widely heralded as one of the most momentous gatherings in the history of the Roman Catholic Church. Honoring the 50th anniversary of the convening of Vatican II by Pope John XXIII in October of 1962, and in celebration of CTU’s own roots in the expansive vision of the Council, a series of 11 lectures exploring Vatican II will begin on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, from 7-8:15 p.m.

Chicago, IL, June 5, 2012—The Board of Trustees of Catholic Theological Union (CTU) will honor prominent Chicagoans, Renée and Lester Crown and Shirley and Patrick Ryan, at the annual Blessed are the Peacemakers dinner on Wednesday, June 20, 2012. Honorary Chairs for this year’s event are Francis Cardinal George, O.M.I., Archbishop of Chicago, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

CHICAGO, IL—Catholic Theological Union in Chicago (CTU) is pleased to announce that the Commission on Accrediting of the Association of Theological Schools has reaffirmed the accreditation of the school and all its graduate degree programs, effective February 2012.

Chicago, IL, February 2, 2012--The Council of Religious Leaders of Metropolitan Chicago (CRLMC) has unanimously elected Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., as the new Council President for the years 2012 and 2013.  He succeeds Imam Kareem Irfan from the Council of Islamic Organizations of Greater Chicago.

Chicago, IL, Oct. 5, 2011—Catholic Theological Union (CTU), the largest Roman Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry in the United States, and DePaul University, the largest Catholic university in the United States, announced that they are forming an educational alliance.

“This is an opportunity for both schools to strengthen their academic ‘muscle’ to address the challenges that we face as a society and in the church,” said the Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., president of CTU.

Chicago, IL, June 1, 2011…The Boards of Trustees of Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, the largest Roman Catholic Graduate School of Theology and Ministry in the United States, and the Lay Centre at Foyer Unitas, a highly respected international residential and educational organization for lay men and women studying at Pontifical Universities in Rome, announce that they are forming an alliance that will bring together the resources of the two institutions.

Peacebuilders Initiative, a program that prepares youth for active leadership roles in peacemaking and reconciliation, is pleased to announce the launch of their brand new website, A program of the Bernardin Center at Catholic Theological Union at Chicago, Peacebuilders Initiative draws high school students from across Chicagoland for a yearlong formation program that prepares them to bring the theology and ministry they experience back to their homes, schools, neighborhoods, and parishes through student-led peace projects.
