CTU Launches New Website

Welcome to the new

November 11, 2010

Catholic Theological Union, the largest Roman Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry in the United States, is pleased to announce the official launch of its new website, which can be found at the existing URL, The updated site provides visitors with detailed descriptions about the various academic offerings at CTU, as well as up-to-date information regarding CTU’s many community-oriented programs and events.

The launch of the new website was timed to coincide with the inauguration of a new mission statement for CTU.  In April 2010, the Corporation made up of the twenty-five religious communities who form the “union” that supports the school’s operations, approved this new expression of the school’s purpose and mission.  “Our previous mission statement served us well for many years but the ongoing development of the school made it imperative we adjust the definition of our mission to new circumstances,” stated Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., president of Catholic Theological Union. “We find ourselves in a new campus and with many new programs.  The time was right to reflect again on the core of our mission.”

More than a year in development, the new mission statement addresses the reality of where CTU is now and its vision for the future. In order to fully implement CTU’s new mission statement, it was essential that the school’s online presence be enhanced.

The launch of is the first phase of an overall renovation of the entire CTU web system. CTU will be unveiling four additional websites in the coming months, each of which will have a new look and expanded capabilities.

(Approved byCTU Corporation, April 29, 2010)

The mission of Catholic Theological Union is to prepare effective leaders for the Church, ready to witness to Christ’s good news of justice, love, and peace.

In concert with our sponsoring religious communities, our founding mission is the academic and pastoral preparation of religious order candidates for the ordained priesthood and support for the formation and continuing education efforts of these religious communities.

Moreover, as a Roman Catholic graduate school of theology and ministry, we are dedicated to offering quality theological education and ongoing formation for laity, religious, and clergy who are preparing for or who are already engaged in ministry in the United States and around the world.

As an inter-cultural community of faith and learning, we seek to bring the richness of the Roman Catholic tradition, teaching, and practice to our students, to the broader Church, and to the public. We accomplish this through our graduate degree programs, our faculty, our programs for youth and young adults, and a variety of other educational opportunities and resources.

In communion with the Church, we are committed to ecumenism as well as interreligious dialogue, particularly with the Jewish and Muslim communities, and we welcome students from those communities who are seeking to study in a Catholic context.

We strive to accomplish this mission in a community environment composed of religious, clergy, and lay women and men who mirror the local and global Catholic Church in all its vibrant diversity.
