Please join us for the opening reception of This can’t end well (This can’t go wrong), a new art exhibit in CTU's The Mary-Frances and Bill Veeck gallery.

Opening reception: Friday, February 21, 2014 6 - 8 p.m. Welcoming remarks, 6:30 p.m. Complimentary parking available.

This can't end well (This can't go wrong) presents work by artists contending with some kind of potent duality that co-exists within a piece. Mark Rospenda's drawings, for example, simultaneously show the artist feeling anxious and scrabbling towards relief. Lisa Lindvay's photographs of her family depict her father and brothers struggling with difficult conditions and finding redemption in the collaborative making of the images. Kate Blomquist's paintings evince the impulse to re-make something better only to discover the imperfections can't be smoothed over and are, in fact, integral to the work's success. Participating artists include Mark Rospenda, Lisa Lindvay, Kasia Houlihan, Stephen Flemister, Michael Goldberger, Rachel Dwan, Ashley Lyon and Kate Blomquist. The show is curated by Rachel Herman.

The exhibition will be in The Mary-Frances and Bill Veeck Gallery from February 21 to May 6. Register to attend on Facebook!
