Kristine Veldheer Named New Library Director

Catholic Theological Union Welcomes New Library Director

CHICAGO — Kristine Veldheer has joined Catholic Theological Union as Director for CTU’s Paul Bechtold Library. In addition to overseeing overall administration of the library, Veldheer will work closely with faculty in the development of the library collection as well as represent the library to public and collaboration institutions. Veldheer comes to CTU with more than two decades of library experience, most significantly at the Graduate Theological Union Library in Berkeley, California.

CTU’s President, the Rev. Mark Francis, CSV, said, “Kristine’s background in both library science and ecumenical theological education make her uniquely well-suited to work here at CTU. I look forward to working with her to help strengthen our excellent Bechtold Library.”

“Throughout my time in Berkeley,” Veldheer said, “I worked with three Catholic graduate schools of theology and built relationships with faculty and students in each school. The work there gave me any opportunities to interact with a dynamic and diverse educational community. I’m thrilled to continue developing a library with an equally dynamic and diverse community here at CTU.”

Veldheer is well-versed in online education, both as an instructor, coach, and consultant. Prior to accepting the position with CTU, she had served in an administrative, faculty, and technical support capacity for Columbia Theological Seminary in Georgia, and New Vistas Educational Consulting, based out of Holland, MI. Veldheer holds an MDiv in Counseling and Pastoral Care from Western Theological Seminary and two MA degrees, one in Instructional Technology from San Jose State, and another in Library and Information Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
