Inauguration of Mark R. Francis, CSV

October 27, 2013 at 3 p.m.

It was a beautiful Autumn day in Chicago's Hyde Park as more than 400 guests filled the KAM Isaiah Israel Congregation  to celebrate the inauguration of CTU's seventh President, Rev. Mark R. Francis, CSV.

The celebration opened with the fanfare La Mourisque (Tylman Susato) played by the Millar Brass Ensemble. Academic and ecclesial guests, CTU faculty, CTU's Board of Trustees and Corporate Members, and the platform party then processed in to Jubilate Deo performed by the William Ferris Chorale and the Millar Brass Ensemble.

The platform party included: Michael W. Connors, Vice President for Administration and Finance, CTU; Rev. Mark R. Francis, CSV, President, CTU; Rev. Kurt F. Hartrich, OFM, Chair of the Board of Trustees, CTU; Most Rev. Francis J. Kane, DD, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Chicago; Sr. Barbara E. Reid, OP, Vice President and Academic Dean, CTU; Rev. Donald P. Senior, CP, President Emeritus, CTU; Most Rev. Joseph W. Tobin, CSsR, Archbishop of Indianapolis.

Words of Welcome were offered by Sr. Barbara Reid.  The Invocation was delivered by Bishop Kane, Vicar General of the Archdiocese, on behalf of Cardinal Francis George, OMI, Archbishop of Chicago.

Testimonies of Welcome were offered by: Very Rev. Raymond Diesbourg, MSC, on behalf of the Corporation Members of CTU; Very Rev. Thomas A. Baima on behalf of the Association of Chicago Theological Schools; Rabbi Frederick Reeves on behalf of the Local Communites of Faith; and Maria de Jesus Lemus on behalf of the Students, Faculty and Staff of CTU.

Most Reverend Joseph W. Tobin, Archbishop of Indianapolis, delivered an address to the community titled: CTU and the Consecrated Life

Rev. Kurt F. Hartrich, OFM, presided over the Act of Installation and Charge to the New President

President Francis then delivered his inaugural address titled: Theological Education as Contemplative Engagement with the World.  The Closing Rite followed, with Benediction offered by President Francis. The recessional was Ronde (Tylman Susato).
