How to Apply

If you are interested in applying to CTU but haven’t requested information, please complete the Request for Information form.  A request for information packet will be sent to you and contains an application for admission, letter of recommendation forms, a writing sample guide, applications for financial assistance, and a CTU facts sheet.

If you have already requested information and received an inquiry packet by mail, but wish to receive the forms electronically, please contact the Admissions Office at admissionassist@ctu.edu or by phone at 773-371-5445.

As a graduate school of theology and ministry, CTU requires a bachelor’s degree for admission. There are general admission requirements as well as degree specific requirements (see each degree description for their specific admission requirements). Some of these requirements include a completed application, an application fee, letters of recommendation, transcripts, writing samples, etc.

To be considered for admission, your completed application and supporting materials must be submitted to:

Director of Admissions
Catholic Theological Union
5401 South Cornell Avenue
Chicago, IL 60615

Unless other arrangments have been made, completed applications are due at least three weeks before the beginning of a term. Under certain conditions, students may be admitted after this three-week window as a continuing education student.

If you have questions about the materials or need assistance filling out and submitting the CTU application for admission and/or the application for financial assistance, please feel free to contact the CTU Admissions Office:
