Faith-based formation for leadership

Serving health care and other mission-driven organizations

In April 2013, Catholic Theological Union welcomed the first cohort of executives from the Franciscan Sisters of Chicago Service Corporation (FSCSC) to a formation program for leadership teams that explored:

  • The characteristics that make one's work a form of ministry and how each person's individual gifts support that ministry;
  • The teaching, healing, and prophetic ministries of Jesus as revealed in the Gospels
  • The Franciscan charism for ministry
  • Ethics and Catholic Social Teaching
  • The Catholic Church in the American context
  • Leadership as ministry

In addition to courses taught by CTU faculty members and facilitators including the Rev. Donald Senior, CP, Sr. Maria Cimperman, RSCJ, and Br. Paul Michalenko, ST, two retreats were included as part of each year's formation process.

For FSCSC, overall formation outcomes and competencies included:

  • A greater understanding of one's personal call to ministry;
  • Enhanced understanding of the core of Catholic tradition and FSCSC's Catholic identity and mission;
  • Servant leadership and consultative decision-making processes;
  • Advocacy for the life and dignity of the human person, especially those who are marginalized.

CTU welcomes inquiries from other health care organizations or mission-driven companies who would like more information about how CTU can meet your leadership formation needs.
