CTU has partnered with Catholic Extension to offer education to lay leaders in mission dioceses working in the Church. This is a five-year degree program, which results in a Master of Arts in Pastoral Studies.
Courses are completed primarily online, enabling the student to remain in his or her local diocese.

The core experience of the Peacebuilders Initiative is the weeklong summer program. Our participants learn the theology of peacebuilding, develop leadership skills, experience hands-on ministry in Chicago, and live in community with other Peacebuilders on our Hyde Park campus in Chicago.
The summer program lays the foundation in our goal to prepare Catholic young people to become agents of positive change in their schools, parishes, and neighborhoods.

Every summer, Catholics on Call hosts a four-day program at Catholic Theological Union (CTU) in Chicago. This experience is designed for women and men (ages 18 to 30) who may be thinking about a life of service in the Church as a lay minister, religious sister or brother, or priest, and those who are undecided and want guidance in determining how God is calling them.
