Sundays at CTU - Sr. Joanne Jaruko Doi

More than 65 people participated in CTU’s latest Sunday at CTU this past June 4th.

Sr. Joanne Jaruko Doi, MM explored her family’s personal history as internees at the Manzanar and Heart Mountain detention camps and considered the significance of that moment in American history as we encounter new Executive Orders, 75 years later.

Sr. Doi’s presentation included film clips from the documentary film about Heart Mountain internees, “All We Could Carry” and emphasized the role Maryknoll Missionaries played in exercising a ministry of accompaniment to Japanese Americans in the camps.

On behalf of CTU, we express our gratitude for the individuals, organizations, and religious communities  who warmly welcomed and asked questions of Sr. Doi. Special thanks to Host Committee members Gregory Darr, Joan and Peter Wrenn, and Maryknoll Mission Education.

Also, a big thanks to Rev. Daniel Kim, MM, for celebrating the Mass.
