Rev. Donald Senior, C.P., President of Catholic Theological Union, cordially invites you to attend a sunday afternoon experience June 10, 2012. The afternoon begins at 3:00 pm with a lecture from CTU's Br. Antonio Sison, C.PP.S., Assistant Professor of Systematic Theology, titled "Humanity in Deep Focus: World Cinema, Theology, and the Human." At 4:00 pm Sunday Euchcharist is presided over by recent graduate Rev. John Robert Henry Christman, S.S.S., MDiv 2011. A reception follows.
What if film’s “profanities” can help us to see the mystery of faith within the contradictions of the world and rouse our passion for worship, justice, reconciliation, and human flourishing? Forging an open-minded but reasoned dialogue between world cinema and theological perspectives that touch on the theme of human finitude, theologian and independent filmmaker Br. Antonio Sison, C.PP.S., looks for the divine presence, written not on tablets of stone, but on “tablets of human hearts” depicted on screen by way of audiovisual language.
