Biblical Tour of Rome, Pompeii, and Malta

May 21 to June 1, 2012

Join world-renowned Biblical Scholar and President of CTU, Fr. Donald Senior, C.P., for a memorable, unique trip to Rome, Pompeii, and Malta. You may have been to Rome before, but you may never have experienced Rome through the eyes of a Biblical Scholar!

Rome and the Bible:
Rome, of course, was the capital of the Empire that extended its influence into the Holy Land itself. And Rome became the location of one of the earliest Christian communities, exerting tremendous influence throughout the Mediterranean world. Paul wrote his most extensive letter to this Christian community. Two letters in Peter’s name originated from this city and the Book of Revelation targets Rome and its Empire for severe criticism. And both great apostles, Peter and Paul, would face martyrdom in Rome. In the Acts of the Apostles Luke makes Rome the goal and endpoint of the great missionary outreach of the early Church.

Trip Highlights:
In addition to presentations by expert guides, Fr. Donald Senior, C.P., will be providing Biblical background for these sites.

  • A guided visit to the spectacular ruins of Pompeii and the Herculaneum near Naples which provides the best possible experience of what urban life in the first century was like.
  • Naples – because it is worth a visit!
  • In Rome, visits to “must see” sites and unique places regular tours miss guided by two experts in history and archaeology of Rome.
  • A spectacular private visit to the Sistine Chapel for this group alone!
  • Ruins of Ostia, the ancient port of Rome where Paul landed.
  • Malta, a place where Paul landed during his epic sea voyage from Caesarea Maritima on his way to house arrest in Rome.
