Biography

Monsignor Lagges is a presbyter of the Archdiocese of Chicago, ordained in 1977.  After forty years of service to the Archdiocese, he retired in 2017.  He continues as an adjunct faculty member at CTU (where he has taught canon law since 2005) and at Catholic University of America (where he has taught marriage law since 2009).  He has served as Judicial Vicar of the Archdiocese of Chicago from 1997-2009 and as Vicar for Canonical Services from 2000 – 2009.  He was also an adjunct faculty member at Mundelein Seminary from 1996-2009.  He has published numerous articles, mainly in The Jurist, Studia canonica, and Proceedings of the Canon Law Society of America.  He has been a frequent speaker throughout the Archdiocese and the country in the areas of Church governance, marriage law, penal law, and procedural law.
