Roger Schroeder, S.V.D.

Roger Schroeder was ordained in 1979 as a member of the Society of the Divine Word (S.V.D.) after which he worked as a missionary for six years in Papua New Guinea. Upon earning a Doctorate in Missiology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, Schroeder began teaching at Catholic Theological Union. He has been at CTU since 1990.

Schroeder has also written about twenty-five book reviews. He is a consultant for the “History of the World Christian Movement” project of Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and Orbis Books since 1999.
Roger Schroeder has given talks and workshops in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Ireland, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Taiwan, the United States, and Vietnam. During his sabbatical in 2009-2010, he will be lecturing and serving as a resource person in Indonesia, Australia and South Africa. He was appointed Coordinator of Anthropos Institute (international network of SVD specialists in social and religious sciences) for the term of 2007-2010. He is a member of the following professional associations: Association of Professors of Mission (President, 1997-1998), American Society of Missiology (Board of Publications 2006-2009), Midwest Fellowship of Professors of Mission (President 1992-1993, 2006-2007), International Association of Mission Studies, U.S. Catholic Mission Association, and Anthropos Institute.
