Catholic-Jewish Program

Catholic-Jewish Studies have been a part of Catholic Theological Union since its inception in 1968. Because of Cardinal Bernardin's profound commitment to Catholic-Jewish dialogue, this program with its array of lectures, workshops and courses has been expanded and integrated into the Bernardin Center.

Through the Shapiro Lecture series and the annual Rabbi Hayim Goren Perelmuter Conference, world renowned scholars come to campus to speak on a range of topics related to theology, current issues, and culture. At the heart of this distinctive program is the Professorship in Jewish studies, which enables an outstanding Jewish scholar to have a direct impact on future Christian leaders. The Crown Ryan Chair in Jewish Studies is held by Rabbi David Sandmel.
