The Campus

Catholic Theological Union’s campus sits along Cornell Avenue, in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago’s south side. CTU’s original building on S. Cornell Ave. was built as the Aragon Hotel, a 10-story structure just blocks from Lake Michigan. CTU is near Hyde Park’s shops and restaurants, and only one block from the buses and trains that travel to Chicago’s downtown Loop in just 15 minutes.

In 2005 CTU began a major campus renewal project with the construction of a 95,000 square foot, five-story Academic Center, and the renovation of the building at 5401 S. Cornell Ave. Students now enjoy spacious classrooms, a state-of-the art library, and expanded meeting and assembly spaces. The Academic and Conference Center accommodates the steadily growing student body as well as a portfolio of public programs and events, affording wonderful opportunities for learning and living.

CTU’s primary facility at 5401 S. Cornell where the school began in 1968 is the residential building with refurbished rooms, new bathrooms, a new full-service dining room, and expanded offices.

The new and the traditional is blended into a modern campus that enlivens and enriches this lakefront neighborhood. Beyond the bricks and mortar, CTU is building our future while making a place for faith.
